“A Prayer for ALL who will EVER believe
because of their testimony…”
(from Jesus Himself, as written in John 17)
The other day, my friend Lydia posted about applying scripture to your life, in a more personal way. I have had this inclination before to do just that and even have Beth’s book “Praying God’s Word”. I’ve just never really actually sat down and written any out or formed any of my own.
However, the “Frazzled Female” study I did last summer (by Cindi Wood) had us do an exercise at the end that Lydia’s post had brought back to the forefront of my mind. Heaven knows it wasn’t a challenging exercise, in that she just had us fill in the blanks with our names to John 17. But, wow. When you really sit down and claim the words He has spoken on our behalf… you really begin to understand just how much He cares and had long before we ever breathed our first breath! Amazing.
Funny enough… after reading Lydia’s post just in the last day or two and reminded of that exercise… I, of course, with every good intention tossed to the wayside, went about ‘business as usual’. Then this morning, in teaching on unity, Scott spoke these very words from John once again. So, I think I know where to start in my applying scripture to my own life and committing it to memory.
Won’t you join me?

I pray for _______. I am not praying for the world, but for _______ ,whomYou have given me, for _______ is Yours. All I have is Yours and all You have is mine. And glory comes to me through _______. I will remain in the world no longer, but _______ is still in the world and I am coming to You. Holy Father, protect _______ by the power of Your name – the name You gave me – so that (she) may be one in the world and with us.
I am coming to You now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that _______ may have the full measure of my joy within (her)! I have given _______ Your word… My prayer is not that you take _______ out of the world, but that You protect (her) from the evil one. _______ is not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify _______ by the truth; Your word is truth. As You sent me into the world, I have sent _______ into the world. For _______ ,I sanctify myself, that (she) too may be truly sanctified.
…Father, I want _______, whom You have given me, to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory You have given me, because You loved me before the creation of the world.
Righteous Father, though the world does not know You, I know You, and they know that You have sent me. I have made You known to _______ and will continue to make You known in order that the love You have for me may be in _______ and that I myself may be in _______.

What a powerful way to speak to God…praying His word back to Him.

    I just love that.

    p.s. How are you feeling?

  4. Hey, so funny you mentioned the ‘Frazzled Female”. I just ran across the copy you gave me in the fall and asked a few girls if they wanted to do the study with me over the summer. Can’t wait to start it!
